Today, I spent some time organizing
my spare room. I haven’t worked on it over the past couple of weeks, but I need
to do some now. Over in the far corner of the room are some supplies that I
will need to access before the end of next week. So, in order to cut down on
the number of boxes that I still have to go through from our move, I need to
organize what I have already unpacked.
To begin with, I have certain
things that I need to access on a regular basis. Things such as paper for my
printer, labels, office supplies, etc. I keep some of the small things in
plastic storage units that I can quickly access if set up properly. I had them
on one bookcase but decided that I would rather have them in another that is
just inside the door. They were the first things that I moved.
I then took a look at what I wanted
to do next and realized that our supplies for hygienic cleanliness were over by
the window. Again, this supply was another move that I wanted done, over near
the door so that we would not have to go all the way to the other side of the
room. I moved my embroidery floss to a higher shelf and then moved the hygienic
supplies to the shelf that I wanted them in.
Following that, I realized that I
wanted to create space on a set of shelves where I had my CD-roms and my
floppies on. Yes, I still have floppies that I need to go through to determine
if I want to keep the data. I configured a shelf with the depth that would hold
all of the storage units for these then moved the storage units to their new
home. I then started sorting some of the smaller things and was able to clear a
shelf for binders that hold the printouts from the courses that I took at
Algonquin college and other binders that have information regarding family history,
either data or information on topics.
I neglected to say, that I also
cleared another shelf of the books that were there by determining their new
home. It might not be their permanent home. Time will tell.
From there, I sorted out some more
small things, finding paperclips, pens, computer programs, videos, and hardware.
I only spent about two and a half hours doing this work, but managed to put a
small dent into the work. I am hoping that I will be able to spend more time on
this later this week. Again, time will tell.
